Since 1997, New Leash on Life (NLOL) has been successfully saving and placing animals in Los Angeles. Eager to expand their efforts past the West Coast, they founded a NLOL chapter in 2005 here in Chicago. Our founders were led to the facility which holds every combination of dogs: Chicago’s Animal Care and Control (CACC).
Today, NLOL Chicago has rescued over 850 dogs, with the majority having come from CACC. Our members pride themselves on the fact that no dog will ever be overlooked by our intake directors, specifically focusing on the “non-adoptable” branded dogs. No breed is too strange, no size is too difficult, and no age is too old or young. By being patient and working with the dog on their needs, we’ve been able to discover hundreds of dogs with sweet personalities fit for homes.
NLOL Chicago is an entirely volunteer run nonprofit organization that is committed to finding loving homes for shelter dogs who might otherwise be euthanized. Through our adoption, foster, training, and education programs, NLOL Chicago addresses the nationwide issue of pet overpopulation and the importance of spay and neuter. We also tackle local concerns such as the threat of breed-specific legislation.
Our mission: Provide consistent advocacy for forgotten animals and to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves.
We love what we do and never plan to stop. We could not manage what we do without our community’s support. We invite you to join us as we work to save dogs from neglect and expose them to the loving homes they deserve. By adopting, fostering, volunteering, or making a tax deductible donation, you can make a real difference in the lives of these animals.
